DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Polly by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Polly:

Working on this profile - note I will be using name Molly as first name at birth - dropping name Mary into alternate name because on FAGM and will also provide info on name Polly. Goal is to reduce confusion. While I do this - please do not tinker with information I add - as this process will take awhile. Any problems - please use comments - . Once I get Moll/Polly sorted - I will also be writing a bio to add to her FAGM as a suggestion. Also- there is part of her marker on FAGM at top that is not clear --

Not finished --- more research to do -- to connect children
Data Dr suggesting that a sister Ford-10406 birth date too close --- this situation will be looked at following more research- but for now will continue to "save anyway"

I think it is unlikely that Mary Polly Ford Mason is the daughter of Joseph and Freelove Ford! Her Grave stone and marriage documents say she was born in Dighton Mass.and was there until she married Mr Mason in 1798. Joseph and Freelove Ford left Mass. for New York with all their children between 1780-1790. It is very unlikely they would have left a daughter in Dighton. Plus when they were living in Mass. they were living in Cummington. I also think the only reason the name Molly got attached to Polly was a transcription error. On her wedding document the “P” for Polly was transcribed as an “M “ . There are several Ford families in the Dighton area, much more likely to be her parents. She could possibly be in the same Ford line ( Andrew Ford of Weymouth ) . Which could explain DNA connections.also Agree that Birth dates of 2 daughters being born in same year, very unlikely (1777)

I understand there are issues with several of these profiles --- One thing I would like to see is more of the marriage record pages-- the reason for this is to look for letters M and P and must be in same handwriting. The blot of ink does distort the name but at the beginning of the female name there is a hook shape that also looks somewhat similar to the beginning of the M in Mason. Although unlikely, one of my distant grandfathers aged 7 was living with his maternal grandparents. Although I have consulted with other researchers who know the area, records for his mother don't turn up again for many years and his father has been very difficult to pin down because it was a very common name.
Thanks for merging - Will look at details later - and will keep you thoroughly posted here or by other means as well as on edit info.
Ford-22895 and Ford-22282 appear to represent the same person because: Hi

Your approval is needed for merge. Once done, I will do clean-up and add some info

Debbie

Ford-22895 and Ford-22282 are not ready to be merged because: Fird-22282 and

Ford-22885 are clearly Duplicate Profiles. They need to be Merged to clear the Duplicate . Then I can Edit the new Profile And add the Find a Grave Memorial . Looks to me that Molly Ford Names..nickname evolved quite a bit.. I'm asking Family members for any insight for the Names..ect.. This Family is Mayflower and that Molly's data be correct.. No they should not be merged . It is very unlikely that Mary Polly Ford Mason is the daughter of Joseph and Freelove Beal. Mary Polly Ford Mason should be removed as a child of Freelove and Joseph Ford. It is much more likely her parents lived in the Dighton area of Mass. since her Grave stone says she was from Dighton and there is documentation that she married in Dighton.

I don’t think Mary Polly Ford Mason is the daughter of Freelove and Joseph Ford. I think more research needs to be done to confirm or eliminate her being their daughter before adding her as a daughter . From the research I have done, I believe Joseph and Freelove Ford had a daughter Sarah/ Sally born in 1777, and a daughter( possibly Molly?) born in 1773. It is again unlikely that they would have 2 children born in the same year! There is no documentation that they had twins? Freelove and Joseph Ford moved from Cummington Massachusetts to New York between 1780-1790. With All their children . Their children were likely born in Cummington, Massachusetts. There is no documentation that Joseph and family lived in Dighton Mass. From the Grave stone of Mary Polly Mason , and other Sources, for Mary Polly Ford Mason she was Born in Dighton Bristol Mass. ( stated on her Grave stone ) May 1 1777, lived their until she married in 1798. Marriage record states from Dighton. She at some point moved to Rhode Island after marriage with her husband. It also seems unlikely that if she was the daughter of the Joseph Ford Family She would have stayed in Dighton or returned to marry in Dighton, when all of Joseph and Freelove children moved to New York, including children born after 1777. There are several Fords Families in the Bristol Dighton Mass. area and more research need to be done to see if there isn’t a more likely Ford parents.

I also believe her name is Mary Polly, and the only reason “Molly” was attached to her name ,on the marriage record, the P for Polly is smeared and it was transcribed as M ! It is possible she is in the same Ford linage as Joseph Ford, explaining DNA connection.?

Agreed. If Molly survived to marrying age, she would have married either in Hampshire Co., MA, or New York, probably Otsego Co. She wouldn't have separated from the rest of her family and moved to Bristol Co., MA, as a very young woman.

My comment on Sarah (Ford) Edson's page about removing Molly (Ford) Mason as the daughter of Joseph and Freelove refers specifically to Mrs. Mason. I don't question that they had a daughter Molly. I suggest detaching Molly (Ford) Mason as a daughter of Joseph and Freelove and make a new page for their daughter Molly, about whom we know nothing more than her baptism date in Cummington. Mrs. Mason lived in Bristol Co., MA, and is clearly not of this family.
