Francesco Paolo Cascio is born and baptized 8 February 1771 in Corleone. He is the son of Leoluca Cascio and Emmanuela Todaro. His godparents are Giuseppe and Antonia Chiarello, a married couple.
Francesco marries Maria Vintaloro on 7 January 1794. His parents are living.
Francesco and Maria have at least eleven children together: Maria Carmela (1799), Emmanuela (1802), twins Leoluca and Paolo (1805), Biagia (1806), Bernardo (1809), a second son named Leoluca (1810), Rosalia (1813), Liborio (1816), Angelo (1820), and Lucia (1823).
Maria Carmela is born 3 September 1799 in Corleone and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Liborio and Paola Ponzio, a married couple.
Emmanuela is born and baptized 8 November 1802. Her godparents are Don Leoluca and Emmanuela Guarneri, brother and sister.
Twin sons Leoluca and Paolo are born and baptized 26 January 1805. Leoluca is named after his paternal grandfather. His godparents are Don Francesco and Sigismonda Ducibella, a married couple. Paolo's godparents are Bernardo and Teresa di Puma, a married couple. Neither twin appears in the 1807 census, indicating they have both died by this time.
Biagia is born and baptized 13 March 1806. Her godparents are Andrea and Biagia Marino, a married couple.
The Church census of 1807, called a stato delle anime, records Francesco Paolo, age 31 (b. 1776), living at the entrance to the strada di Russo with his wife, Maria, 24 (b. 1783), their children Carmela, 8 (b. 1799), Emmanuela, 5 (b. 1802), and Biagia, 1 (b. 1806), and Giovanni Finocchio, age 20 (b. 1787), of unknown relation. (There is a Latin abbreviation, fam, that suggests Giovanni is a relative and/or household servant.)
Bernardo is born and baptized on 15 January 1809. His godparents are Giuseppe and Maria lo Cascio, a married couple.
The second son named Leoluca is born 17 August 1810 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Stefano lo Cascio and Domenica Sciacchitano, wife of Giuseppe.
Carmela marries Salvatore Ciravolo on 4 September 1814.
Rosalia is born 17 July 1813 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Girolamo and Biagia Cascio, a married couple. I believe this is Rosa, who reports being five years younger at the birth of her first child.
Liborio is born and baptized on 10 June 1816. His godparents are Giovanni Marino and Carmela Ciravolo (it's not clear if they are a married couple).
Angelo is born and baptized on 31 January 1820, named after his maternal grandfather. His godparents are Rocco and Vincenza Campisi, a married couple.
Emmanuela marries Mariano Pennino on 26 April 1818. Both her parents are still living.
Lucia is born and baptized on 28 June 1823, named after her maternal grandmother. Her godparents are Paolo and Natalia Pennino, a married couple.
Biagia marries Salvadore Verdina, a widower, on 13 February 1831.
Death of Francesco Paolo
Francesco Paolo dies, reportedly at age 80 (he is 61) on 5 January 1832. His wife, Maria, survives him. The record of Francesco Paolo's death calls his mother Emmanuela Palazzo.
Carmela dies at age 37 on 4 March 1837, the widow of Salvatore.
Emmanuela dies, reportedly at age 40 (she is 34) on 29 July 1837, during the first recorded cholera outbreak in western Europe, a plague that sweeps Sicily and sparks a revolt against the Bourbons. She is survived by her husband, Mariano.
Death of Maria
Maria dies four months later, as the crisis is subsiding. She is reportedly 50 years old (she is around 54) at her death on 4 October. Maria's death record calls her Francesca Vintaloro. This record indicates, erroneously, that she is survived by her husband, Francesco Paolo.
Liborio marries Lucia Sciortino on 5 February 1843. By this time, Francesco Paolo has also passed away.
Lucia marries twice, both times to men from other communes. She marries for the first time to Giuseppe Nicolo' Glaviano on 20 July 1845.
Rosa marries Vincenzo Macaluso on 12 January 1846.
Angelo marries Salvatrice Provenzano on 16 April 1849.
Biagia dies, reportedly at age 60 (she is 65), on 16 April 1871.
Angelo dies at age 54 (b. 1820), on 2 March 1874.
Lucia remarries on 20 September 1874, to Giuseppe la Vita.
Lucia dies, reportedly at age 75 (she is 79) on 22 November 1902. This record calls her the widow of Giuseppe Flaviano, and does not mention her second husband.[1]
