She had another sibling who was born after 1940, making her the middle child.[2]
On 1 Feb 1951 Reverend Luther Holcomb, pastor of the Lakewood Baptist Church, united Joyce Elaine Armistead and James Francis "Jim" Beird in marriage in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.[4] They were the parents of three children. Jim Beird died in 1968.[5][2]
In 1974 she was married to John Schroeder. He died in 2010.[2]
In 1997, she was mentioned as one of the surviving children in the biography of her mother, Georgiann Grimes Armistead.[6]
"Joyce graduated from Fort Stockton High School, after which she attended Fashion Design School in Dallas...[she] worked as a travel agent in Matteson, Illinois...[she had ] interests in golf, art and travel." She was the mother of three and had six grown grandchildren at the time of her death.[2]
Joyce Elaine Armistead Beird Schroeder passed away in 28 Nov 2012. She was buried in Midland, Texas, next to her second husband in Resthaven Memorial Park.[2][7]
