Biography

Dorothy Bonnell Armistead was born on 12 January 1925 on the Scott Ranch in Callahan County, Texas, United States.[1] She was the daughter of Mabin Willard Armistead (abt.1890-1974) and Georgiann (Grimes) Armistead (1905-1997).[2][3]

Dorothy was 5 years old when the 1930 United States Census was taken. She was listed as the daughter of Mabin W. Armistead. The Armistead family was living in Upton County, Texas,[4]

The 1940 United States Census was taken when Dorothy was 15 years old. She was living in Ft. Stockton, Commissioner's Precinct 1, Pecos County, Texas in the household of her father.[5]

Bonnell Armistead was married to Corwin Van Husen on 02 June 1946 in the First Methodist Church of Fort Stockton, Pecos County, Texas.[6][7] They were the parents of at least 3 children who are potentially all still living.[3]

After their marriage, Bonnell and Corwin moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where her husband was getting his education. They then moved to Santa Monica, California. In 1948, they settled in Midland, Midland County, Texas where they reared their children.[3]

Bonnell and George Van Husen were enumerated as a married couple on the 1950 United States Census. They were living in Midland, Midland County, Texas. A lodger named Jerry Parker was also a member of their household. Bonnell was working as a secretary for a well digging service.[8]

In 1997, she was mentioned as one of the surviving children in the obituary of her mother, Georgiann Grimes Armistead.[9]

Bonnell was of the Presbyterian faith. She was a member of the Colonel Theunis Dey Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America.[3]
