Biography

Laura Annice Armistead was born on 07 Jul 1927 in Callahan County, Texas, United States. She was the daughter of Mabin Willard Armistead (abt.1890-1974) and Georgiann (Grimes) Armistead (1905-1997).

Laura was 2 years old when the 1930 United States Census was taken. She was living in the household of her parents in McCamey, Upton County, Texas.^[1]

When the 1940 United States Census was taken, Laura was 12 years old. She was living in the household of her parents in Ft. Stockton, Commissioner's Precinct 1, Pecos County, Texas.^[2]

Marriages:

1. Laura Armistead and Billy Joe Scott were married on 28 March 1946 in Tom Greene County, Texas.^[3][4] They may have been the parents of at least 1 child (according to some family trees on Ancestry. Sources were not found to confirm.)
2. Laura Annice Scott was married to John R. Riggs on 07 March 1949 in Ward County, Texas,^[5][6] They were the parents of at least 3 children, all of whom are likely still living.

Laura, her husband John, and 2 of their children were recorded on the 1950 United States Census living in Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico.^[7]

In 1997, Laura Riggs was mentioned as one of the surviving children in the obituary of her mother, Georgiann Grimes Armistead.^[8]

Laura (Armistead) Riggs passed away in 29 July 2005 in Midland, Midland County, Texas at the age of 78. She was buried in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico.^[9][10]
