Hi all,

I thoought I'd bring people's attention to a good tool for Google Chrome that works with WikiTree profiles. One of our members Roland created it & it's available in the Google Apps Store for Free. I know I find it a great help when checking on profiles.

This extension add useful tools while working on WikiTree.
Browser extension that helps you find problems when working with a WikiTree profile.
- Verifies dates to make sure they are plausible.

Billy - - Thanks for this head's up.  Heading to the Chrome store to load this up and learn about it.  Love and enjoy my chromebook!  - - "Betsy"
I am having a little learning curve problem. Random profile Id's work but any on my watchlist do not seem to.  Anyone else?
Thanks for the heads-up Billy, downloading as we speak.

On a tangent - anyone know any good Kindle Fire apps for genealogy?

many thanks

Alison
Hi Alison,

Check Cindy's list for kindle fire apps. The link is http://www.cyndislist.com/mobile/kindle/

Also if you put genealogy apps for kindle fire into Google search it comes up with other pages of genealogy apps for the Kindle Fire.

Hello Corine,

When you say you're having problems is it with the Google app?

Billy, I am referring to the chrome.google app suggested.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/wikitree?utm_source=chrome-ntp-icon

It took awhile for me to figure out that, although it did not work on any of my own watchlist, it worked perfectly on random profile ID's.

For example:

watchlist - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Stone-5497  nothing

watchlist - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Stone-5496  nothing

random - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Stone-433 Icon appears

random - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Stone-496   Data appears

random - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Stone-497 Data appears

When the app works, it is great but I could use the assistance on my own profiles as well as others.

Thanks, Corinne

Hello Corinne,

I had a look at the profiles you listed, when the app doesn't show then there is no conflicting data or problems with the profile is my understanding. perhaps Roland could comment on that as well.

I installed this and it quickly found at marriage at age 9. That was nice. I also found it gives message when you do not have a marriage date. That seemed  to be overkill. Overall, I like it.
Thanks Billy - the un-putdownable Kindle is now even more firmaly attached to my side.
Thanks really useful......

Its sad that the wikitree just have free text in the bio. We should as in the same way <ref name="xxx"> have an event tag where you can add a date, location etc.....

Then an extension likes yours could do a timeline.....

Billy, I originally had the same thought but, it seems I cannot force an error on my watch list.

As of GMT midnight last night Google will no longer support Windows XP. Google has been telling us this all year. XP was licensed in 2002. As far as I know, No other format allows XP either. It all equals = can't down load a image / pic. from one site to another; even if you delete Google, Picassa etc & re-load the programs. It created a bubble for the whole WWW last night. FB was also in that bubble & was having trouble this am. I think you will need windows 8 minimum. & even if you have windows 10 you will need to time date & stamp etc. / adjust setting for Picassa adobe windows Internet(including V 10) explorer FireFox Bing etc etc...for any new images you want to move/share; https: requires it.

Soz 300 USD$ later & many hours of frustration, & prayer on my part :) , sometime later today I might get all the kinks/bugs out for the continuation of my annointed endeavors editing / building profiles & links online. It is what my ancestors / my power in the sky (I saw an American Bald eagle on my way to get a new computer) want me to do ♥
