Problems with Google Chrome

I'm not sure if it was a one off, but accessing Wikitree via Google Chrome it seemed that it would all be fine on other pages, but when I went to G2G it would effectively log me out.

There wasn't a problem using Firefox or Windows Explorer.

Another question I've wanted to ask - Is Wikitree optimised for any particular browser?

I use Chrome and never had a problem.
I've had the problem in IE a couple of times, but not Chrome or Firefox and so far, it hasn't happened in Edge either.  I use a wide variety of browsers at different times, because of my work.

I'm quite certain that it is not a browser-related issue.  I've seen posts here about that happening a few times, so I know others have also experienced it.  I have also seen that logging out and back in does not solve it, nor does closing the browser and reopening it.  When it happens, it seems to last for an hour or two and then go away as abruptly as it came.
Thanks Gaile, I have seen other people mention being logged out of G2G, but that's the first time it has happened to me.  Though I have had problems with Chrome spinning its wheels (or whatever Chrome does) lately.

However I have to admit that I have a very slow Internet speed and my operating system and hardware are both badly in need of an update.

John, What OS are you using?

I use Chrome exclusively, both on a PC and a Mac, and have not had problems.

Oh gosh John, I hope the deleted images aren't images you need.
I had saved all my images to google already. Google no longer supports Windows XP as of yesterdays date because it is 14 years old. I think as a minimum will nee Windows 8. I had to get a newer computer w/ Windows 10 to continue sorce ing images / Pictures from one place to another. That is the difference between http: & https: s = secure. John
Good to hear. Google isn't supporting Vista either. But, WIndows 7 is till good. I actually liked windows 7. They supposedly are supporting xp and vista until April 1.

If you want the start menu back let me know & I'll send you the instructions. It's an easy fix.

As of GMT midnight last night Google will no longer support Windows XP. Google has been telling us this all year. XP was licensed in 2002. As far as I know, No other format allows XP either. It all equals = can't down load a image / pic. from one site to another; even if you delete Google, Picassa etc & re-load the programs. It created a bubble for the whole WWW last night. FB was also in that bubble & was having trouble this am. I think you will need windows 8 minimum. & even if you have windows 10 you will need to time date & stamp etc. / adjust setting for Picassa adobe windows Internet(including V 10) explorer FireFox Bing etc etc...for any new images you want to move/share; https: requires it.

Soz 300 USD$ later & many hours of frustration, & prayer on my part :) , sometime later today I might get all the kinks/bugs out for the continuation of my annointed endeavors editing / building profiles & links online. It is what my ancestors / my power in the sky (I saw an American Bald eagle on my way to get a new computer) want me to do ♥

Windows 7 is still supported.

Glad you are getting a new pc. Should speed things up for you.
Am now up & running on new Computer ... where the Eagles fly :). John

Google won't support Windows XP, Vista and Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8. starting April 2016.

True :)
Hopefully people who have XP or Vista will see this discussion and upgrade their OS before April 1.
