Why does a google of Wikitree plus a surname lead to MyHeritage instead of Wikitree?

When I google Centanni wikitree I get My Heritage instead, with outdated information, but a link to wikitree. Can we get Google to go directly to wikitree please?

Just to add to Rosemary's answer here is a link to Google's page on search operators

I find the "Separate numbers by two periods without spaces to see results that contain numbers in a range" extremely helpful to narrow down search results to people in the right time periods.

In Google I enter "the persons full name with LNAB" then wikitree. It always works for me as long as the Profile is not Private. I must also be logged off of wikitree.

It takes 24-48 hrs. for wikitree & google to update / sinc after I put a Profile Security setting to Private with Public Biography and Family Tree or Public.

Have you been using this page to find Centanni? At the bottom of the page is a Google Search.

If you are using Google outside of WikiTree use:

site:WikiTree.com Centanni

The site parameter forces the search to look only on WikiTree.

Thank you. I had told a cousin to google Centanni and wikitree, and then I tried it and got those offbeat results. Thanks for a better way to inform non wikitree members how to search for our Centanni family.

You can also type: space & wikitree behind the name, works for me. New profiles sometimes take a couple of days to show up.

hmm...I just googled Centanni wikitree and got all WikiTree results.

My first 7 hits are wikitree, and the next several hits are myheritage.

The results you see might depend on your Google search history -- if for some reason Google thinks you like myheritage, it may give you myheritage results. ;-)

I have blocked WikiTree on my google search because I would get only WikiTree results which I already knew. Maybe you have done this too? Just a random thought.

Most of my profiles I have loaded up link up straight away with Wikitree, I live in Australia, so maybe it depends what country you live in. I find just putting in their name works without mentioning Wikitree.  Loads of my cousins have been googling common ancestors and have then got in touch with me.
