Advice before adding father of this pre-1700 Bates profile?

I can add a father to the profile of John Bates. This is who I can add:

  • James Bates

These are the sources I am using:

  • Bates Bulletin - Winter/Spring 2016

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Benjamin,

Before you add any additional profiles, it might be a good idea to complete and source the profiles you have already created. You need to add locations and sources. You will find it much easier going if you source as you go and lack of locations is going to cause a multitude of headaches for you and other members.

yes to my understanding any time we put pre-1700 entries we should consult the appropriate project to make sure not duplicate, that the source is good etc.

Here's one of mine from around the same era for comparison. This is a very basic profile. John Carnebulack

Note that there are clickable links for the birth and marriage which tell you exactly where to find the original data.
