Joseph Simpier is my Great Great grandfather and civil war veteran During the Civil War Joseph was paid to take someone's place in the Union Army and he served under the name Charles Robshaw (used Alias) We have many resources etc but need help updating his categories and need civil war sticker (I tried to add it but i couldn’t get it to work correctly) and updating in his civil war area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you wikitree family.

You should try to get his Civil War service and pension (if he had one) records from the National Archives (fee required).

Fold3 should have some information as well.

Found it Enlisted in Company F, New York 81st Infantry Regiment on 17 Dec 1864.Mustered out on 31 Aug 1865 at Fort Monroe, VA. Civil War Record Of 81st New York company F
