Hi Nancy, and welcome to Wikitree

In regards of your question about Scott Charles Major, I suggest you send a private message to the profile manager Todd Earls, using the "Send Private Message" link next to his name on the profile.

When you click the button that says "ask a question about...", that question is posted in the public G2G forum, where it might not be noticed by the profile manager it is directed at and therefore you might be less likely to get a response, particularly depending on their notification (and 'feed') settings. A private message is sent through wikitree direct to the individual's e-mail, where it will more likely get noticed.

The message you posted in the Public Bulletin Board part of the profile, also notifies all profile managers, and is another effective way of getting additional information related to a specific profile.

Questions in G2G are more appropriate for questions and suggestions to a wider audience  - for example "Can anyone help me find a record for...?", "How do I...?", "Can we add [choose a feature] to Wikitree?"

While it is not specifically relevant to this profile, I would also mention that seeing names you do not recognize on profiles that are related to you is not uncommon on Wikitree. In addition to distant relations (or ones married to them), some people research and document the families of a particular place (a one-place study),  event (example: the sinking of the Titanic), or group (all members of the 15th Battalion in World War I) rather than specific families and might have no relation to the person in the profile at all; without the people that approach research this way, many families that have no descendants would never have their stories told. Other names on profiles may be arborists who have adopted a profile temporarily to clean up duplicates, which helps to achieve the Wikitree goal of one family tree.
