Philip Kives? Where are you?

So the CBC and the National Post both ran stories when K-Tel founder Philip Kives died in April. I remember those relentless ads for K-Tel products, whether kitchen widgets or records. (I've always assumed that Opus' obsession with "turnip twaddlers" in Bloom County was kind of a dig at people who bought K-Tel's kitchen widgets.)

I was kind of surprised, when I finally got around to checking, to learn that there's no profile for Kives. (Or maybe he's listed under some other name?)

Here's some varied material...

Here's a newspapers.com article from the "Lead Daily Call" of Lead, South Dakota, 6/4/1982, page 1, that mentions Phillip Kives, Johnny Paycheck and hi-jinx at a recording session.

Here's another from "Florida Today", Coco, Florida, page 25, about a real estate development gone bad where Phillip was one of the developers.

Finally, here's an notice about a horse he owned winning a race found in "The Courier Journal", Louisville, Kentucky, April 7, 1993, page 10.  It refers to another company called "Stop the Music".
