What happened to Charles Henri Newhalt?

I am researching my mother's side. I now know that the "Noel" surname is derived from "Newhalt" from England. The first Newhalt to come to America was Charles Henri, accompanied by his wife Mary Teasdale and their son Samuel.
There are plenty of records of Mary and Samuel later living in Quebec, Canada but nothing about his whereabouts. He is believed to have been taken prisoner at some point.
I would love any help with this!
Thank you!

A time frame could help. Do you know the year that Samuel was born and the year that the family came to America?

What year did the parents move to Quebec, Canada?

If there was a surname change, when did it take place?
