Advice before editing this pre-1700 Gaudet profile? [closed]

I have information to contribute to the profile of Marie Gaudet. This is what I can add:

 • Paternal and Maternal relationships are both confident based on a triangulated group on GEDmatch who share a 10.5 cM segment on chromosome 3, consisting of Ronald Thibodeaux, GEDmatch kit # CM7128676, and D Bordelon, his 7th cousin 2x removed, GEDmatch kit # M173305, and Clorice Surette, his 7th cousin 1x removed, GEDmatch kit # T108718. (D and Clorice are 7th cousins 3x removed.) Their most-recent common ancestors are Denis Gaudet and Martine Gauthier, the 7x great grandparents of Ronald Thibodeaux and 9x great grandparents of D Bordelon and 6x great grandparents of Clorice Surette.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

WikiTree has specific protocols for the introduction of DNA use. Please see the guidelines at the DNA Project. WikiTree does not create nor verify relationships through DNA, DNA can be used to confirm relationships established through other genealogical means.

As you could tell from her profile, she is an Acadian.  Since you added it to her profile, I moved it to the proper place in the Sources section.  As she is a PPP profile, I will have someone review it and determine if relationships can be marked DNA Confirmed.   Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Cindy,

Note that this is not a DNA confirmation, since it says the relationships are "confident".

The guidelines for DNA confirmation by triangulation state that if there is a common ancestral couple they can be marked "confident", but not "confirmed with DNA".

Thank you for reviewing the entry, John.  As you could note, the parents are only marked Confident, not DNA Confirmed.  What heading should we give it in the Sources section?  Does it even belong there then if not a Confirmation?
I'm also a descendant of Marie Gaudet...just something to keep in mind with Acadian ancestors. You have to account for the endogamy in the Acadian gene pool.  I can triangulate segments for my Acadian ancestors many times over, and unfortunately, it doesn't mean that the DNA segment can be attributed to a particular ancestor.
I think it would be less confusing if it were moved to the DNA Research section or change the name of section it is in from "DNA Confirmation" to just "DNA"
Done.  Left it in the sources section and removed Confirmation.  Thanks.
