Virginia Births and marriages, US Civil War records

Researching Edward Kearney from Ireland. He appears in the 1860 and 1870 US Census in Virginia, USA, and died of tuberculosis in 1870 age just 40.

Three children were born in Virginia 1860, North Carolina 1865, and again in Virginia c1868, with the death of a possible fourth child in 1865 in Virginia.

However, his wife is known only as Julia, and no marriage appears on FamilySearch, nor any birth records for his children. These would verify a lot about his movements, if they were available.

Are any Virginia Births and Marriages available online for 1850-1870?

His movements between Virginia and North Carolina between these years suggest possible military involvement? How might I find out if he fought in the US Civil War? Many thanks.

I checked the Civilwardata site and didn’t come up with this person having a civil war record however it doesn’t mean he didn’t serve in the war or was involved in some capacity.

Thanks Andrew!
Greensville VA is on the North Carolina border so they may not have moved at all.  North Carolina birth may be an error, perhaps Julia was staying with family or neighbor, some people lived so close to a border they weren’t sure which state they were in.
