I just realised that I missed watching the March Ask Aleš live, because it never showed up in my Google Calendar (via the WikiTree Google Calendar) on either Tuesday 5 March or Wednesday 6 March. I assumed that it wasn't happening because people were at RootsTech or on cruises or otherwise unavailable.
Here's something you might discuss in the April livecast ...
I wanted to find the earliest end-of-line ancestors with the surname Cahir.
First, I did a search for: LastNameatBirth=cahir nofather
The results are sorted by WikiTree ID, with no obvious way to sort by birth date.
Second, I tried: LastNameatBirth=cahir nofather sort by BiDa
This reported: Search text not found "LastNameatBirth=cahir nofather sort by BiDa".
Third, I tried the "Group field:" feature below my original results.
"Grouping by field: BirthCentury." showed me that there are four 18cen profiles and none from earlier centuries, but gave no link to the details of the four profiles bar four individual links to the four WikiTree IDs.
Fourth, I tried: LastNameatBirth=cahir nofather Dates=B18Cen
This reported: Search text not found "LastNameatBirth=cahir nofather Dates=B18Cen".
Fifth and last, I left out the B: LastNameatBirth=cahir nofather Dates=18Cen
This gave me what I needed in this case.
If I was researching a more common surname, then I may have wanted to refine my search further.
Did I make some subtle syntax errors in my second and fourth searches above with the result that they did not find what I was looking for?
The new One Name Trees App would probably have been the quickest way to answer my question!
