Challenge of the week: Improve orphaned profiles

Hi WikiTreers,

Will you join our "Data Doctors" Challenge of the week?

Once again, Aleš has come up with something to help us work together on a category of profiles that need our help. This time it's "orphans," i.e. profiles without Profile Managers.

Here is the table of orphaned profiles that could use some TLC.

Here's how to help. On the table, click on a number you see in the "Open" column or the column for the century in which you feel comfortable working, e.g. 1800s or 1900s. It doesn't matter which suggestion row you pick, e.g. "No dates on relatives" or "Father is too young." For this challenge, the individual errors and suggestions are just starting points that lead us to profiles that are likely to need help. When working on an orphaned profile, we don't just address individual suggestions. We look at the whole profile and try to improve everything we can about it before moving on to the next profile.

Will you join us?

If you're participating, please post here to let us know. It's nice to cheer each other on. Or post if you have any questions about how to participate.

Thanks for helping!

I do this whenever I found an Orphan in my various lines, but then if they are in a family that I'm working, I adopt them...!

Corrected errors in Birth and Death locations for Haynes-812. The random theme of the week seems to be WWII veterans killed at sea by submarines. Then digging a little bit deeper, finding that LT Haynes is a cousin.

As an aside - the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) should be made a geographic location as she has been found (2017).

There are a lot of ships that were sunk in the Pacific that are being "found." I should probably post a list of them, altho they don't always give the exact location of the wreck to prevent relic hunters, etc.

I know they also found the HMS Prince of Wales, and her companion sunk early in the war off Australia.

All of these "lost" ships are war graves for those entombed.

I am working through my family ancestors and adding them to Wiki Tree but whenever I find one with no profile manager, I always adopt them.

While inputting data of anyone connected to my family tree, and come across an orphan file, I have taken it on if I have concrete proof and sources.  Plan to continue when I can.  Love Wikitree and your concept!

I love working on these because they are orphaned. I try to do several every week.

Thanks for posting a new link Eowyn!
