Your research notes were/are helpful and I followed some of the links with great interest. How cool to see updates from research begun over 100 years ago, despite the original errors.

I long ago realized the Carter Clan was simply huge and easily overwhelming - with the nearly identical male names - but I'm happy to still be a descendant of William Carter (Carter-1839), as I have long suspected.  

I suppose confusion will continue for a while, but I'm happy to contemplate where one Willam Carter might have came from - somewhere from England, no doubt.

Aren't they all?
