“My Dear Eeva…You better come over in your motor…”

Hi Wikitreers,

I have another vintage post card in my antique post card collection that needs collaboration in the genealogy behind the post cardlaugh

It appears to be sent to a Mrs. R. E. Peck with an addy of 56 Home Street? New Haven, Conn.

sender appears to be a Bile or Billy and Henrietta

Post marked July 20, 1909 and stamped East Hampton

1.) What is R. E. Peck’s name? Maybe Robert Edward?

2.) Is there a 1900/1910 census showing the family group at the addy listed in vintage post card?

3.) Who was Billy and Henrietta? Family or maybe friends

Note: the way they talked is really vintage. Saying a Motor not automobile or even using Conn not CT for state abbreviations. I find very intriguing. They talked so much different than our time.

Any collaboration is appreciated

Thank you

“E. Hampton July 20”

“My Dear Eeva”

“This is an ideal spot. You better come over in your motor. Love to you and Bobbie.”

From Bile and Henrietta

That would be Howe St., not Home St. :)
and here are Robert and Eva Peck at 56 Howe Street in 1910; boarding with them are William E. and Henrietta Brown. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MK2N-G5S

That definitely seems to be a 100% match! yes Thank you

Oh here is the Familysearch bio: When Dr. Robert Ellsworth Peck was born in November 1867, in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, United States, his father, Leonard E. Peck, was 32 and his mother, Jeannette M. Clark, was 28. He married Eva Louise Seward on 27 December 1898, in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, United States.

Appears he was a physician in life!

His father served in the U.S. Civil War see FindAGrave per bio “During the Civil War, he was a Sergeant in Co. G, Seventh Regiment Connecticut Volunteers.”

Nickname on Post card “Bobbie”

I can flag, comment or best answer.  The first time reading these that I just wanted to click like (for an interesting question) but no option to do that.
You have some great postcards, Andrew.

I notice in books I read from early automobile days in England, they often call their car a 'motor'.

Thank you Brenda yes it is really neat the terminology they used. Horses to Motor…laugh

They had a beautiful Christmas wedding how cool is that!

She received a tea service of Solid silver and a piano too!

She must of loved piano!

Let’s note the year was 1898

This post card is a favorite in collection his father served in the 7th Conn Regt and his memorial has some really amazing photos. The son becomes the healer and doctor in the family after the war brought such devastation.

I think the capital E has an extra loopy flourish, so Eeva is really Eva.  Compare the other capital Es!

And probably Bill I think, just a very loopy "l"

I agree with this assessment a second set of eyes helps with the writing style!laugh

And a 1c (one cent) stamp in 1909 from The Hamptons - East Hampton in particular - on the East end of Long Island, a popular seaside resort of the historical summer colonies.

Andrew you are at WikiTree treasure!

Their a lot of fun just to see the way they expressed themselves in conversation is really a time machine to the past
Jo Gill, it's East Hampton, Connecticut, not the Long Island Hamptons. It's printed at the top of the picture!

Good catch.  Now I need to find the Connecticut Hamptons on Google Earth.  I'm visiting Isle of Mann this a.m., so I'll just bop over to Connecticut. laugh

Yes East Hampton Ct laugh
