Someone with more expertise in french records maybe could lend me a hand? I'm searching for the birth record of Edith du Bois de Beauchesne, hoping to strenghten her connection to her father. Any help is truly appreciated!!

I am trying to find out why the Connection Finder connected me via my Marshik side, rather than my McCarty side [McCarty-5021]. I think there is a much more potential connection there.

The connection finder prioritizes the shortest path first, then chooses to display the one that has the longest stretches of blood relations in it. I took a peek at your connection to Billy and noticed that starting with you and going through your Marshik side, it's 9 degrees of blood relatives into the connection before it switches to a marriage. Then through your McCarty side, it's only 8 degrees before it makes the switch.

Also, on Billy's end, the McCarty side of his tree isn't as dense as the connections through his stepfather.

My connection to Billy the Kid goes through Lucy Gale, Gale-865. She could not have married both Caleb Pierce and Jonathan Claflin. Caleb's wife was born in 1786, and moved with him to Michigan. Jonathan's wife moved to Vermont. She is likely the one with the birth record, born in 1791. It is unlikely that Elisha and Mary had two simultaneosly surviving daughters named Lucy. If Caleb's wife was not the sister of Polly Gale Olds, the connection doesn't work.
