RAWK logoIt's come up often that we should do something similar to the WikiTree Challenge for WikiTree members. As a part of our 15th Anniversary celebration this year, we decided to introduce our We Will RAWK You Event.

RAWK stands for Random Acts of WikiTreer Kindness.

We did our first round of RAWK in March and more in June and August and October and December! It's been a lot of fun and we've been able to really grow many of our members' connections so we're ready to kick off our first RAWKing of 2024!

How it works:

A month before each of these events, we will put out a call in G2G for RAWK nominations (like this one!). This is your opportunity to nominate another WikiTreer to be a potential participant in the We Will RAWK You Event.

After nominations close, The WikiTree Events Committee will randomly pick 5 of the nominated WikiTreers who will then get to be RAWKED.

We also put out a call in G2G for RAWKERS, WikiTreers who would like to help work on the lines of the 5 participants.

On February 1st we will kick off the We Will RAWK You Event. Everyone who signed up to help with research will have one month to see how much they can increase the CC7 numbers for the five nominated WikiTreers.

There are stickers for those who are RAWKED and for the RAWKERS.

Please post your WikiTreer nomination as answer below! Note: Members of the WikiTree Team are not eligible for nomination. The nomination period will end January 22nd.

If you would like to volunteer to be a RAWKER, please post an answer HERE

I would like to nominate Kathy Nava (Urbach-13).  She has a very interesting bio.

Kathy was already RAWKed in 2023.
Okay, thank you!
Thank you Tamimie for the nomination but like Sandy said I have already been RAWKed. I still haven't had time to go through everything that was done on both my profiles.
You are very welcome!  I just love your bio, so much detail and so interesting.

I am very happy to nominate Kristin Anderson
She does so much for many projects on WikiTree but especially the Appalachia Project.  She is always helping everyone in our Project.

I would like to nominate Victoria Fachner. She spent most of her holiday break covering the greeters who needed time to spend with their families. I think this would be wonderful Thank you.

Thank you, Pam, for nominating Victoria Fachner. Thank you Victoria Fachner for all you do for the Greeters Project.

I completely agree with this nomination as I was one of those who she covered for.
I agree wholeheartedly, Victoria has worked so hard since joining the Greeters team
I also strongly support this nomination as Victoria covered for me allowing me to spend precious time with my family who had travelled about 5,000 miles to visit
This nomination is well deserved. Victoria works very hard, and long, on the important work of greeting our new members.
I support this nomination, Victoria has jumped in many times on very short notice and has quickly become an indispensable member of the team.
I also agree with this. She is amazing and works hard for the tree.

I nominate Matthew Combs!  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Combs-1687.  He is a great guy and a member of the Applachian Project!   He would be a great way to grow our tree and his CC7!

I’d like to nominate Peggy Watkins https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Watkins-7379. She is involved with the Canada Project and recently started overseeing the Trans Canada Trail project.

I'd like to nominate Mr. Paul Dixon, new to the Appalachia project, eager to learn and grow the tree with us.

I'd like to nominate Betsy (Shook) Baker. She's a fairly new member of the Appalachia Project and has plenty of empty branches needling to be added to improve her CC7.

Thank you so much!

I'd love to nominate Nikki Orvis please to see if we can get her over the 1,000 mark. She is a greatly valued member of the Wales Team.

by Jutta Beer G2G6 Mach 6 (67.8k points)
I second Nikki, she is a not only a valued member of the Wales Project and Team Leader of the county of Radnorshire but also a valued member of the England Project being the Team Leader of the county of Herefordshire - definitely worthy of nomination.

Malc.
Agreed she has stepped up to help the Project identify what needs doing.
I also agree with this. Valued member and always helpful.

I would like to nominate Betsy Ko for RAWK. She is a very busy WikiTreer and I would like to see her cc7 get to 1000.

by Kathy Nava G2G6 Pilot (311k points)
That would be great but I don’t know if she is eligible.
Liza,

Team is not eligible and as far as I know Betsy isn't a team member.

Kathy
I’m confused. Then why did you nominate her?

If the only WikiTree members who are not eligible are people on the Team, and if Betsy is not on the Team, then Betsy is eligible.

Thank you Jim.

I would nominate Dave Stern, who recently participated in the WT challenge in January.  His CC7 is currently 392.

David (Reynolds) Reynolds-Gier's CC7 could use some RAWKing.  It is currently 781.

I would like to nominate [[Tomaszewicz-6|Stephen Tomaszewicz]].  Steven has participated in many thons with the Mid-Atlantic Team and worked on other challenges transcribing wills (which I do not have the patience to do).  He is finally connected to the global tree, now could we get his CC7 over 1000!
