I just became the Manager of Smith-191760, I beleive it's the same James Smith that the two of you are discussing. Should the three of them be merged? I'm not sure I know how to do a three way merge. We have: Smith-191760 Smith-65118 Smith-151596 All three appearing to be the same person. I see no record anywhere of the George and Ann (Bailey) Smith having two sons named James. What is our next step? Would you two like for me to attempt to make this three way merge? Kathy

First things first, I would try to find more/better sources. One James Smith file suggests he and a brother William were both born in 1720. As far as the merge goes, merge two then merge the remaining two. All three will share the lowest ID#

Hey Kathryn, thanks for the star. Free advice is usually worth what you pay for it but, I typically make a post where PM's are involved and see what transpires. In hindsight, I wasted much energy trying to correct mistakes before I was fully aware of the ones I was creating. I'm not sure if you are related to James however, I would recommend building your CC7 to increase connections. You are probably more interested in who your relatives were than the overall health of the tree, not that the overall health of the tree is not important. Identify the problem and see how it is resolved. That's how I'm learning anyway.
