On 21 Apr 2024 Sharon (Smith) Newton wrote on Smith-337747: William Samuel Smith who is my gggrandfather as far as I know was a convict who was sentenced to 7 years arriving in Australia on 22/08/1846. He married Mary Hanrahan in 1858 in Blackwood, Victoria, Australia. I have his marriage certificate which states who his mother (Elizabeth Booth) father (William Smith) were. I have been researching William Samuel Smith for many years but always end up hitting a brick wall. His birth on his marriage certificate has him is as 32 years old which would make him born in 1826, on his death certificate in 1888 it has his age as 66 which makes his birth year 1822. Also when he was convicted 1846 he was 16 making him born in 1830. So I have always had his birth year estimated between 1822-1830. If there is anyone out there that maybe could help it would be much appreciated. Thanking you in advance.
