Hello and welcome to Team Magnificent Magnolias! It's time to start thinking about the WikiGames!

We have three events
Sourcing Slalom starting Friday, August 25 at 8 am EDT/Noon UTC
Cross Country Connecting on Saturday, August 26 at 8 am EDT/Noon UTC
CC7x7 Wall Climb on Sunday, August 27 at 8 am EDT/Noon UTC.

*Here is the full livecast schedule for the hangouts, every four hours: Space:WikiGames#LiveCast_Schedule

Come visit our Team Page at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Magnificent_Magnolias and let us know what you’ll be working on. Or you can start your own thread below by Answering this post. You can give us updates on your progress, ask for and give help, etc. Remember don't start on our 4 Olympians until the start of the CC7x7 wall climb to maximise the gain. Nothing wrong with identifying potential connections beforehand though.

Please consider joining us on the Magnificent Magnolias Team Discord Channel. It’s a lot of fun to have live conversations going on during these types of events. If you’re not already on the Discord server there are instructions on the help page.

I am looking forward to hanging out with you!

    • Siblings on the 1940 census and not listed as surviving in the obit - John Wesley (1926-1999)
      • "United States Census, 1940", database with images, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V1P5-PKS : Thu Jul 27 23:12:12 UTC 2023), Entry for Fuller Carr and Nara Carr, 1940.

I found Stanley's paternal grandmother already on WikiTree! https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Woodward-9533

Jane Woodward married Thomas Lay in 1874 in Oxfordshire, England https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2DGG-GM9

Their son Arthur Harry Lay born 1878 in Oxfordshire is Stanley's father. He emigrated to New Zealand and married there. I will start to bookmark sources to add when this challenge opens!

I found Stanley's maternal 6x gr-grandfather on WT: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cowlam-3                                  I'll do the direct line back to him, so there will be LOTS to work with in between!  wink

Awesome, thanks, Karyn and Fran!
Found his wife and her family on FS. Have added the details to the Wikispace and will add them for the cc7

Hi everyone!  I am in South Australia so will have to check the time zone calculator for my start times. I will be working on sourcing and connecting profiles from the Australia needs sources and connections categories. I don't know how much help I can be with the athletes, I think my best bet would be Stanley Arthur Lay from New Zealand ~ Karyn :)

Hi, Karyn!

Sounds like a plan! I and some others have said they would like to do all four athletes for the challenge not just one or two, so that would be great if you could help with Stanley!

az :)
Hi Azure! I am afraid I do not have alot of experience with researching United States, so I don't know that I can add anything helpful for the first 2 athletes, but I can add to the second 2 with England and New Zealand sources. The research pages look great! Thank you!
