Shattered brick wall

After 30+ years of looking I finally found my 2x GreatGrandmothers birth and ancesrty.  She is someone I kind of identify with.   She had to have a sense of humor getting married on April Fool's Day 1854.  I got married on Labor Day Weekend 1976.   Marriage is a labor of love.  Seemed fitting.

One other idea, not that I planned it but it broke a 10 year old brick wall.

When researching other people keep your eyes open for the names of your brick wall person. No matter how unlikely it seems.

While looking for GGGP on my mothers side, on a rather obscure website, I saw further down the page 'George Ross' and decided I'll take a look even though I was quite sure it wouldn't be the George Ross, I and 3 other cousins had been searching for, for 10 years.

But it was the right person, it took a long time to check everything, including a phone call from Canada to England. And £10 to get an emailed pdf of the record.

The only connection to the town that had the record was a very suspect place of birth on a census. It turned out to be correct.

It's a great feeling when you see that brick wall come down!  That has happened to me several times and I keep trying to knock down the next one, just for the fun of it!devil

Thanks for sharing!

the key is never give up  go back to sources you've checked year after year because new stuff gets added i spent 30 year looking at Family Search and she was not there until this year,  So just keep checking

Love your story Laura.  Congrats on the break-through.  I also was married on April Fools's Day but in 1972.  Cheers!
