For best results, please tell us a bit more about what you are seeking. What country did this person live in? What branch of that country's military did they serve in (if you know)? A name and a profile link is might help other members find an answer for you,

Do you happen to have the DD 214 that would’ve accompanied your loved one or followed them? You can order them from Vet Recs

Father joined in 43, but when he was first drafted, he went to Fort Bragg to learn to be airborne and infantry, then from there he went over to the war, but it was over by then, still they had things to do and then with the point systems, take that back to the US and a lot of them went to stoneman in California but there’s a lot of military installations in the US! But yes, the first answer it asking for more information goes… The more formation, the better even if it’s a couple things. Good luck if I can help, I will.

My uncle entered the military about 1940. I had thought it was in 1943. I suspect he was stationed in North Carolina in 1940 and would like to know if there is research available that can tell me what base he was at in 1940. It is possible he became the father of a boy during a one night affair while he was there, but the woman never told anyone who the father was. His DNA is matched very close to my brother's DNA.

My suggestion would be to search newspapers local to where his family lived in 1940 and through the war years. Congress passed the first peacetime draft (Army) in Sept 1940, with the first selectees reporting in Nov. Many newspapers posted updates on their local boys military service.  If he entered before Nov 1940, then he would have enlisted. That also may have been reported in local newspapers. Also, please share his unit or job specialty such as infantry if you know it.
