Where would a category for the US Army Small Ships Section in WW2 best sit in the US Army category structure. Looks like (according to Wikipedia) formally a section of the Transportation Service & maybe part of Transportation Corps?

Operated in the SW Pacific Theatre, but also to Philippines  &  Japan. It is where a lot of Australians & Europeans in the Pacific islands who were too old/ too young/ not fit enough for regular service found a role.

Once I know where it should sit in the category tree I'll make a category request, as a Wikitree search shows several profiles that could be in it.

I have a close and dear Australian Veteran friend whose father was part of the US Small Ships Section.

He has a "Certificate of Service" from the United States Army Transportation Corps. Signed by the Chief Transportation Officer and the Chief Maritime Personnel Officer.

He received the US Pacific Star and the US WWII Victory Medal for his service.

There were many other Australians and others like him.

I support you Mark in recognising these people who served when they need not have.
