Could someone check on Ancestry or Fold3 to see if there is any Civil War record for George Mayers

DOB 18 Jan 1838  DOD 20 Jul 1861.

He was a younger brother to Captain John W Mayers of Mayers Company, Appling (Georgia) Cavalry.  However, George is not listed in his brother's company roster.

Trying to find what unit George Mayers served in and where he died.

Thanks,

I did a quick scan on Ancestry and didn't find anything that I thought might be him.  There are various spellings and death dates very few that died in 1861.  I was able to look at the family trees on Ancestry and didn't find any that I thought were researching your specific name.

I checked Fold3 and both Mayer and Mayers and did not find him. Fold3 is sometimes tricky so I will try again when I think of another way to see if he is there.

Have you tried searching for him using Myers as the spelling of the surname?
