Working in the challenge collaboration “2022 WikiTree Challenge 4: Adrienne Wilkinson”

We need Civil War Research collaboration for “Newt” Wilkinson. I believe he served in Missouri. His brother  Jasper Wilkinson (1837 - 1861) served in Phelps' Regiment, Missouri Infantry and tragically died of “Lung Fever”.

The sources I’m finding shows Newt served in Ferguson Company Missouri Militia? 63rd Regt.?  Needs Fold3 help

Thank you

See for Crawford County, Missouri. Familysearch 63rd Regiment, Enrolled Missouri Militia (Union)

He is really elusive.  I think that I saw the same pension record that you saw, but couldn't find him on Fold3.

He also didn't pop up in the database maintained by the Missouri State Archives:

https://s1.sos.mo.gov/records/archives/archivesdb/soldiers/

That's what I found, but none of the supporting information. Normally, there is almost too much.

I may have found a lead. I searched under "Wilkerson, Newton" and came back with a hit on the Missouri SoS Soldiers and Sailors Database. https://s1.sos.mo.gov/records/archives/archivesdb/soldiers/Detail.aspx?id=S334782&conflict=Civil%20War

This was the same period that the bushwackers and Bill Anderson were running amok in N. Missouri. I saw an announcement from the MO Sec of War offering a $300 bounty for Missouri Militia Men to sign up.

Name WILKERSON, NEWTON
Rank Private
Conflict Civil War
Side Union
Type of Unit
Organization Enrolled Missouri Militia
Name of Unit Ferguson's Crawford County Provisional Company E.M.M.
Alternate Unit Name

Period of Service GO 107

Record Group Office of Adjutant General
Series Title Record of Service Card, Civil War, 1861-1865

The handwriting on the Service Record looks like "Wilkinson" to me, so it might have been a transcription error listing the last name spelling of Wilkerson.

This individual served 248 days. Enlisted: Capt. Wm H Ferguson, Ferguson's Crawford County 107th EMM. 25 July 1864, Steelville, MO. Ordered to active service: Aug 24, 1864.

Mustered out: Relieved of duty Apr 5, 1865.
