Where and when did William Davis pass away?

Question

Also  Davis-98409 as this relates to a pending merge.

On Ancestry three profiles say Adelong, 15th July 1867, and one says Bourke. Only one of the three "Adelong" profiles gives a source, but that source says Gundagai.

Adelong and Gundagai are only 35.4 km apart, but I can't find any death record that says Adelong. If I, or anyone, could find one?

I cannot find one that says 15th July either.

I've gone by the NSW BDM.

I found nothing on Trove or any of my other sources.

Both profiles have Gundagai as place of death with the same BDM source, I can't see any reason not to merge, they are the same person, spouse of Charlotte King who has already been merged.

Received Death Certificate today, 12 Aug 2022. It confirms the Adelong death and date. Profile updated.

I tried the method of finding the exact date with NSW BDM, and came up with the 15th July 1867, the record shows with dates 1/7/1867 to 15/7/1867 but does not show with dates 1/7/1867 to 14/7/1867, therefore the date of the event is 15/7/1867. 

The record states died Gundagai, both profiles have Gundagai as place of death, and using the above method, the date of the event can be calculated.

Change to Gundagai recent, but interesting way of whittling down death date. Will merge.

The method doesn't work for all records but is good for a lot of them. If it doesn't have the exact date it will match any date within the year so you find out pretty quickly by trying two non-overlapping ranges.

The above William Davis is not who I think you wanted answered.   The William Davis in my Tree is from New Orleans.  My computer that my tree is on is out of order right now and I'm using someone else's computer to get my email.   Please know, I have I will be back to tell you the dates he was born & died.  I know he definitely was born in New Orleans but might have died in Chicago.   One brother went to Chicago and became a financial wiz and the other Brother stayed behind with his mom.

That is not "my" William Davis you speak of. "Mine" was born in England, married there, emigrated to Australia, and lived out his life in Australia.
