Under which name did Phillip Mansfield Cartledge die in NSW on the 19th of February 1981?

Phillip (or Philip) Mansfield Cartledge (Profile ID - Cartledge-398) left his wife (Ethel May Cartledge) and his two children (Keith Mansfield Cartledge and Phyllis May Cartledge) in Melbourne in the early 1930's and never returned. His daughter (Phyllis May Cartledge (married name Dunlop)) was contacted at his death by a lady who was his wife (even though he had never divorced from his first wife) as he had left something for her in his will. Even thought this story has been passed down, no one remembers the name of his second wife, or the name he might have died under. A family member that is now deceased has left in her family tree notes his death as being on the 19th of February 1981 in Sydney, NSW. Does anyone have any idea on how to find a list of people that died on or around that date in NSW? (hoping that his new name would have some resemblance with his name at birth), or a list of NSW wills corresponding to this date of death? Thanks a lot for your help!

Sounds like a needle in a haystack, A. I had a look at the Sydney Morning Herald death notices for 2–5 February 1981 using a newspapers.com subscription. There are no Cartledges or similar, and no Mansfields either. If you have any other guesses, I could try them.
Hi Jim, thanks so much, and so sorry, the date is the 19th of Feb, not the 2nd... Colledge and Carthew, are variations of the names that have been used by name changers in this family. Cartlidge is a common mispelling of the name. I would be very grateful if you could try again with the correct date (my apologies once again!).
Nothing obvious for 19–23 February either.
Thanks for checking! That is very nice of you.

Hi A. Girard,

You can search the deaths in NSW Australia with Deaths at https://familyhistory.bdm.nsw.gov.au/lifelink/familyhistory/search/deaths?6 .You can enter an asterisk * in names including for whole surname then dates at bottom of screen for exactly the time you are interested in leaving some leeway eg 01/02/1981 to 10/02/1981. Name changers are hard.

Happy to discuss further.

Thanks Graeme, I will give it a go, I didn't know you could leave just an asterix in the Surname field. Hopefully it didn't change his name to something completely different... Thanks again for your help.
