Can a tech change occur to facilitate a merge when a profile manager of a non-open profile approves a merge? [closed]

Question

In the proposed merge of this profile, one of the profiles is not open. The profile manager of the non-open profile approved the merge.  However, since the profile is not open, the merge cannot be completed. What can be done to prevent this conundrum?

Yes, and I have done that before when a PM had not been active for years.  I posted this in WikiTree Tech seeking a prophylactic solution for the future. When the PM approved the merge, she the likely thought that her involvement was complete and the merge would occur.

I believe that in the merge approval process, there should be explanatory language if one of the two profiles is not open, what needs to happen.  Option one - notice that approval of the merge by the non-open profile will upon the merge with the open profile will result with an open profile.  Option two - for an approval of merge of a non-open profile with an open profile, there should be a box to check to open the non-open profile as a condition of approving the merge.  

Coding should be able to substantially resolve this from happening.

Oh, the checkbox is an interesting idea. Merge permissions really do need to be revisited at some point -- I know that merging private profiles is very confusing for users.

Thanks Jamie.  Default approvals are helpful, but the exceptions where default approval are not allowed remain problematic.

The PM of the non-Open profile can complete the merge.

Did you get a reply from the not open profile manager?

The Pm has not been active since June 2021, perhaps they don't check the account very often.

No reply from the post on the profile or the private message as of yet. I also see that she has not made any contributions since June 2021, but she did approve this merge and other merges on profiles that are open.  The same situation with Thrift-311 is occurring with Thrift-331 and Annable-330 with different profile managers.

It simply make no sense to approve a merge from a non-open profile with an open profile where the information is not private in the open profile.
