Researching my family. My paternal grandfather's name is Leon Alston - born in Charleston, SC - in 1897 and my grandmother's name is Miriam Matilda Washington, born in 1900 in Charleston, SC. Herman Austin was my dad, born in 1922, Hackensack, NJ - and his dad was Leon Alston, my dad's last name was spelled incorrectly on his birth certificate, instead of being listed as Alston, it was spelled Austin. I have my  dad, Herman Austin's birth certificate, which lists "Leon Austin" as his father and Miriam Washington as mother. I am seeking DNA match to the Leon Alston family (which originates from Charleston, SC), but so far have not been able to find a match to an Alston.

Hi Carol,

At the top of your profile, in the last name box it just shows Austin.  (or enter Austin, or Washington, etc from any profile window.  Click on the search and you will see all Austins that have been entered in WikiTree.  It's a weird order, hit the sort by birthdate button.  Further sorting options are allowed, and more filters available at the bottom of each page.  This might give you a start.

Of course, entering your family with facts and working down you tree would help anyone else give you a hand...
