Joane (French) Bridges born 28 February 1576, Assington, is unlikely to have been the daughter of Jacob and Susan (Warren) French.

Probable that Jane French is not a real person.

Parish record for Jacob and Susan's marriage gives date of 27 September 1578. Their first several children were baptized at Saint Mary's; not until 1586/7 did they have a child baptized at Assington.

The FindAGrave memorial about John Bridge (PGM) cited as a source for this link seems itself unsourced as to Joane's birth and parentage.

Two links appear at the bottom of the memorial, one is broken, the other returns the genealogy.com FTM site of [https://www.genealogy.com/ftm/a/m/m/Paul-F-Ammons-TX/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0693.html Paul-F-Ammons].

The Ammon's site reports wife of John Brydges/Bridge to be "Marjory French" born "Jul 25, 1580 in St. Mary, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk" dau. of Jacob and Susan (Warren) French. Date given for this Marjory's birth is otherwise the parish record for baptism of Jacob and Susan's SON, William French at Saint Mary's, Bures St. Mary, Suffolk.

(See entries and sources on profiles of the parents, Jacob and Susan. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/French-103 )

Great Migration article for John Bridge is, I presume, Robert Charles Anderson, George F. Sanborn, Jr., and Melinde Lutz Sanborn, ''The Great Migration, Immigrants to New England, 1634-1635, Volume 1, A-B,'' p. 393-397; digital image by subscription, [https://www.americanancestors.org/DB114/i/7051/393/0 ''AmericanAncestors''].

Joane (French) Bridges marriage to John Bridges was recently severed in the tree, leaving her profile as "Joane (French) Bridges."

What shall we do with dear probably-not-a-real-person Joane?

Thank you for your time and ideas.--Gene

I found the link to her memorial - Joane French Bridges (1576-1648) - Find A Grave Memorial no other sources

Hi Aaron,

Although it has morphed once or twice, that seems to be the problem post.

Joanne's Bio should feature her disputed marriage and a link to John Bridge. It should be mentioned that although she appears on FindAGrave and Family Search, no sources for the name of John Bridge's first wife have been found, she is only referred to as John's Wife in town records of the time: Great Migration Vol 1

Removing the profile might lead to her being recreated because she is on other sites.

Yes, Wikitree policy is that profiles like hers should start with a section about Disputed Relations,  -- AND that a section and links to ALL disproven relations should appear on all the affected profiles.  Currently, they've just been silently removed.   So right now, someone trying to fix Findagrave, for instance, won't be able to figure the situation out. I was going to report the problem to Findagrave, but there are children listed for her  there.  Are their real parents unknown?  Or should they be linked to other parents? While I know what's happened, and can go back into her history, I know enough to do that - most people wouldn't know.

I should be able to click "suggest edits" on the Findagrave profile, and say "Hey, can you bring this in line with the research and relationships cited on this Wikitree profile?"  Findagrave is usually very responsive to such requests, IME.
