Marie Allmarinda Bates Wall

Marie Allmarinda Bates is a wall. I can't find who her parents might have been. There are many variations of her name.

She was born in Sumner, Tennessee, United States around 1841 and died in Marion County, Illinois in the 1920s. I did a search for Bate in Tennessee around that time and found a couple military references, but I'm still stuck.

Her husband was William Alexander White (White-61304) and mother of David Larimer White (White-60737).

Help, pointers, suggestions are appreciated!

Deb

Look for her death certificate, it may name her parents. You may have to get it from the Marion County, IL vital records (fee likely required).
What George said. Illinois is one of those states that plays it pretty tight with death certificates and records. In Cook County, home of Chicago, there are some indexed records available online. Otherwise, it's back to searching for a death certificate the way it had to be done circa 1990.

Hi, Deb! I took the liberty of adding a few source citations to Allmiranda's profile but, alas, no clues to her parents popped up in that quick and limited research. No help on her parents, but here are a few other links you might want to check for info about marriages of her children:

Best of luck!

I did find Poor House records from Sumner County, Tennessee. (https://www.tngenweb.org/sumner/)

Lucinda Bates is listed in 1842-43 with a daughter about 2. Then 1843-44 Lucinda is listed with Almarinda Bates, 3 years old, as her daughter.

I actually think I would have better luck finding Almarinda's parents by birth or marriage certificates.

Well, that's a great find, nonetheless.

Something else I stumbled upon which indicates that Almarinda didn't die in Illinois, though the Arkansas death certificate notes that she was removed to Salem, Illinois the day after her 8 Feb death in Polk County, Arkansas. The informant was Charles White, undoubtedly her son Charley. But--dagnabit--there's no info on the certificate that helps with her parents, other than the maiden name Bates...but Charley put "Almaranda Bates" as the mother's name, so I believe he was clearly noting his mother's maiden name, not his grandmother's name.

Probably of no interest--because no parents listed, and you probably have all the other info--but with Arkansas as the place of death a Google search turned up a RootsWeb WorldConnect page; I saved it as a snapshot at the Wayback Machine since page loads at RootsWeb can be an iffy proposition:

Also found this PDF document; and index of a document that I can't figure out how to get to; there isn't even a document title on the index. But potentially interesting is that it shows her full name as Almarinda McColin Bates White. Whatever information might be in this unknown document is on its pages 38 and 39.
