I have hit a brick wall on solidifying the parentage of Miranda Richmond. Richmond-4289

Birth 1794 • Litchfield, Connecticut

Death 1860 • Portage, WI, USA

If you can lend any insight on parents, documented facts on her or siblings or dna.  I have created a Free Space link that explains in further detail... https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:DNA_/_Parentage_dilemma

Hi Patricia,

I took a quick look at it, and I guess I'm even more stumped than you. I'm unsure what connects Paulina to an Enos Dimond - the record given on her page says that her father was Dimond - it doesn't provide a first name. And I'm not sure what connects the Miranda in the 1860 census to the Miranda in the 1850 census either. Are there other children of Miranda that aren't on Wikitree?

Here is a link to the obituary of James Edward Lytle, son-in-law of Enos Dimond and Miranda Richmond.  It spells it all out quite plainly.

Do you know that many of the Richmond family married into the Mayflower pilgrims, specifically, Thomas Rogers?  You may want to explore that.   There is a Jonathan Richmond (5th gen from Thomas Rogers) born in 1749 in Taunton MA to Seth and Lydia Haskins Richmond.  Thomas Rogers granddaughter married John Richmond and that is where a good many of the Richmond line comes from.

Ding, Ding Ding!  You win the prize.  I thought I connected to this Mayflower Immigrant and your push gave me the connection!

Hi cousin!  I am so glad I was able to help.  I am related to Thomas Rogers through Abigail.  I am a Society of Mayflower member in NC and Thomas Rogers Society member.  Check out the Thomas Rogers Society where you can see the genealogy of the members and you can send them pictures of your deceased ancestors in the line.  Such a nice feature.
I am also a descendant to John Billington, so I already belong to the Mayflower Society and the Billington Society.  I will check out the Thomas Rogers Society.  That sounds very cool.
I am also a descendant of Francis Cooke.  Glad you are a Mayflower Society member. Have fun!

    Hello Patricia,

You can learn more about your Richmond ancestry if you register at gedmatch.com and follow their directions to upload your AncestryDNA results there.  Some of your DNA matches may have information about Miranda’s ancestry that you don’t yet have.

Then add your GEDmatch ID to your DNA Tests page in WikiTree at HTTPs://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:DNATests

After a couple of days you will be to see your relatives in WikiTree who tested with AncestryDNA, 23andMe, Living DNA, MyHeritageDNA, and Family Tree DNA’s Family Finder. See: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1NgD9b3s0Gs

You can also see your matching DNA relatives in GEDmatch via Wikitree:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=b6yeCirkINc Encourage those matching relatives to join WikiTree and add their ancestry and GEDmatch ID to WikiTree.

Encourage your matching DNA relatives at AncestryDNA to also upload their DNA to GEDmatch.com and add their ancestry and GEDmatch ID to WikiTree.

You are also a X chromosome descendant of Miranda.  By joining GEDmatch you will also be able to see who else is an X chromosome match with you. You will be able to find your X chromosome matches in WikiTree:

Thank you for your reply. I do have my information at gedmatch, so I added the kit number to wikiTree and I will wait a few days to see what pops.

my further query would be how do I make reference to this as source material on the wikiTree?
    Hello Patricia,

For how to reference a DNA match as supporting source material for a relationship see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:DNA_Confirmation#How_to_Add_Source_Citations

    I most encourage

    https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:DNA_Confirmation#GEDmatch

because it allows others to independently verify one's findings.  A lot of testee's believe they have a sufficient match when they don't.

Because you already were in GEDmatch and you have now added your GEDmatch ID to your DNA Tests page, you can now find your autosomal and X chromosome matches in WikiTree and GEDmatch.
