Help Identifying Ribbons

Good Afternoon All,

I am working on my Uncles Profile, Maj Gen Kenneth T Sawyer. I am trying to figure out his Fruit Salad and all I have at the moment is his Army PR Picture.

Right now I only have about half of it figured out. Going from top to bottom. I have the top Three Rows figured out. I have no idea what the next two Middle rows of three are. Fourth row of three I need the middle one and the bottom row I need the one on the left.

And is there a way you can Access online or request a generic overview of someone's service record and awards?

I am hoping that there is some helpful soul out there that knows more about Identifying these ribbons than I do?

Thank you in advance for your help.

This website may be of help https://www.militaryvetspx.com/uarmeandri1.html

It has color pictures of the ribbons.

Geoge,

LOL, I have already spent about 10 hours combing through Web sites just like that and still have not been able to figure them out. I am hoping for an Old Vet who recognizes them for what they are.

Thanks
Jeff

Just trying to be helpful ...

Years ago I requested a set of my Dad’s medals and decorations. The Army/DOD has a form for that. When I got the set, and it took a while, each one was identified. That might be a possibility.

George

Please search for the correct names of the medals before adding the templates and categories. Start here:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Military_Decorations%2C_United_States_of_America and you can drill down through to find the correct names. I'd appreciate it very much.

Sorry, did I goof one?
Hey George,

Thank you for at least trying, it is appreciated.
You’re welcome.

BTW We are cousins, admittedly distant cousins, our closest common ancestor is Thomas Dewey.
Cool!

Here's what it looks like to me, starting from top left, always working left to right. 1st slide - Silver Star, Legion of Merit w/4 Oak Leaf Clusters. 2nd slide - Bronze Star w/2 attached devices, one possibly a Oak Cluster, and V device, Air medal w/attached numerals I cannot make out. 3rd slide - Army Commendation (ARCOM) also known as the 'Green Wienie' w/1 attached Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart. 4th slide - American Defense, American Campaign, ? cannot make out last one w/2 attached devices. 5th slide - WW2 Victory (?), WW2 Occupation, National Defense w/attachment I can't make out (usually a star). 6th slide - Korean Service, Armed Forces Expeditionary, Vietnam Service w/4 service star device attachment. 7th slide - Republic of Vietnam Training Service (?), United Nations Korean Service, Republic of Vietnam Campaign w/1960 bar device (?). Ok, yes I was raised by a professional soldier and I am a proud Army Brat. That being said, here's my disclaimer ~ I knew some of these, some I did not so I looked them up as best I could using the picture you posted. Some may be wrong, in fact some may be way wrong. If so, I apologize! But it should give you a place to start. If you can get a copy of his DD214, it will list his awards. You might want to contact Veteran Affairs in St. Louis Missouri and see if they can help you out! This is where I requested my fathers service records, and all his awards and citations. Hope it helped a little! By the way, that's a hefty respectful amount of stars on his shoulders, Salute!

That's a great story, and such a great memory! STARS! That's perfect!
Thanks for the star George, not anticipated, but sincerely appreciated!
Ha! I have one of the last Two I am missing!

Slide #7 the one of the far left is not a Vietnam Training ribbon, It is a Eun-gwan Medal, (Silver Crown) Republic of Korea, Order of Merit (Cultural)

Thank you Chesty!
Nice! I feel I have stared at this pic so long, every time I look at his face I get the feeling he's just grinning at me trying to identify some of those ribbons!

First row of three looks like:

American Defense Ribbon, American Campaign Ribbon, I'll have to look somewhere else for the third, but it looks like some sort of European Campaign Ribbon

Second row of three:

World War II Victory Ribbon, World War II Occupation Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon

Did you need the center one on the second to last row?

It is the Armed Forces Expeditionary Ribbon.

The one on the left is Korean Service Ribbon and the one on the right is the Vietnam Service Ribbon.
Awesome. Armed Forces Expeditionary Ribbon. Got it. I had the other two but Thanks a bunch for the other one. Dang Rainbow ribbons drive me nuts.

Thank you I will have to follow up on that.
Lucy,

I checked it out,  I am not his next of Kin and it has only been 56 years not 65 so I can't get his record that way.

Thanks for the link and help.
