I've had the issue too. Apparently the tech folks are aware of the bug and are trying to fix it.

Me Too, working from Macbook Air, Chrome 80.0.3987.149, Catalina 10.15.4

Actually, my problem is updating and existing WikiTree profile.  It takes me to a WikiTree page where is says I need to Login and then below says I am already logged in.
We had this same bug a few months ago when they were rolling out some kind of upgrade to Google that was checking for valid certificates or something. Google stopped the phase in, but perhaps Google is working on it again.

Oops I see this is an old post. Well .. its happening to me again.
I had the same issue this week. I was able to add one profile using Wikitreex and then after that, it kept giving me a hard time. I posted about it during Connect-a-thon and they said Chrome had done some updates that broke it.
Returned for me as well.  I have to log out, activate WX, login again, then try WX again.  Repeat for each profile I am attempting to change.
Thanks, Michael! I will try this.
I've only just discovered WX & attempted to use it today & it each time I put in the profile ID of the person to update it says I'm already logged in. I've tried logging out, it then takes me to log in page, which I log in & takes me to my tree instead the of the profile I asked for.
I hear they are working on it. I hope they can fix it by the time the source-a-thon comes around.
There have been intermittent problems using WikiTreeX in the Chrome browser for some time. Lately I've been able to get around those by using the Brave browser with the extension installed.  For the time being, that works, adds text.

I had to reboot my computer and then it worked for me. Maybe a clear cash would have worked but I didn't try it.

I'm using a MacBookAir so Chrome is a little quarkie on it anyway.

One technique that works from me when using "Create Related WIkiTree Profile" is a bit involved but not intrusive as doing a reboot of the computer.  Here are the steps:

1) Try to add the profile and a new tab opens for the profile of the Wiki-ID that was being attempted.

2) Goto MyWikiTree->Logout

3) After logging out, log back in and close the tab.

4) Repeat step 1 then close the tab.

5) Repeat step 1 and it should work (at least it always does for me).

Nota bene: you might want to refresh the FamilySearch page first if you have not had recent activity.
