Has anyone done research into when the first Gillespie's arrived on the island of Jamaica and from where?  I am trying to establish the Gillespie line in Jamaica which ties to Henry H. Gillespie.  I believe Henry was born in Jamaica  in approximately 1837 and he also died there.

Have you looked at the Gillespie records for Jamaica on my website;  Gillespie Family History Library & Archives.  I am familiar with the Scottish link to the famous merchant family (well researched), but Henry is not Scottish, so this name is linked to the Irish....why not email me privately using the contact form....any search engine will put up the 44,000 Gillespie records on this library  from across the world.... Thanks for checking.  I do have Henry Gillespie's details as well as the names of his parents.  I am more interested in connecting him to the first set of Gillespie who settled in Jamaica and where they came from.  Scotland or Ireland.
