During the Revolutionary War, Gooden served as a private in Capt. Nicholas Crosby's company of Col. John Allan's regiment. Gooden's company was raised for the defense of Machias. He enlisted on 8 October 1777 and was discharged on 31 December 1777.[4]
Gooden Grant married Anna Emery at Hampden, Maine, in October 1783.[1]
