1840 Catherine was born on 12 October 1840 (not 1839 as indicated in the book by SPH Statham[1]. She is the daughter of Francis Statham and Jane Kington. She was baptized on 6 November 1840[2]. See image of birth/baptism record.

1841 In the 1841 Census of England and Wales held on 6 June 1841, the Statham family were living on the High Street in the Borough of Lambeth in the Parish of St Mary Newington, London, England[3]. Note that at the date of the census, Francis Statham was a schoolmaster and that his son Francis Kington Statham was not staying with the family.
