Abner was born about 1783 in Dutchess County, New York in what was called Beekman's Patent and later Beekman District.
He was the oldest son of his father Rufus Spencer and his first wife Larina Briggs.
Abner is living in Denmark, Lewis County during 1810, 1820, 1830, and 1840 U.S. Censuses. [1] [2] [3] [4]. He served as a County Supervisor in 1821. He served in the New York State Assembly from 1 Jan 1823 to Apr 1824 representing Lewis County. [5] [6] Abner's wife, Hannah Macomber passed away in 1833. He committed suicide in the summer of 1848. [7][8]
Abner died in 1848 so he didn't appear in the 1850 census.
