Findagrave memorial 8366104 Riverside Cemetery, Calhoun County, Michigan for Rufus Spencer, died Aug 1849, age 75 is the oldest Spencer burial in Riverside Cemetery; he may be be the son of Rufus Spencer born 1761 Coventry, Rhode Island-1836 Lewis County, New York. That would make Rufus a father at age 14, highly unlikely. There is no evidence of this Rufus Spencer buried in Riverside Cemetery, no birth record, no census record, no marriage record, or military record found to date. Randall Spencer, please offer more evidence, you have posted a bad birth date. He would be a soldier in War of 1812, no record found to date. Rufus Spencer lost his first wife Larina and second wife Cynthia about 1790's, 1805 removed to Martinsburg, Lewis, New York, recorded in 1810, 1820, 1830 Federal Census, dying 1836, recorded in his last pension payment. Martinsburg was settled 1803, by Brig. Gen. Walter Martin, builder of Greystone Manor, son of Adam Martin and Abigail Cheney Martin.

Daniel1787 and William Spencer b1795 are proven sons of Rufus Spencer 1761-1836, listed with their wives and many children in their profiles. If this Rufus Spencer 1775-1849 is a real person, he most likely is group one Spencer dna and probably descends from one of the four Spencer Brothers as recorded by Donald Lines Jacobus, 64 pages Spencer Genealogy.
