Biography

Etienne Sédilot 1640 - 1688


Etienne Sédillot's baptism record reveals he was born on September 9, 1640.[1]


Estienne Sédillot, son of Louys Sédillot and Marie Grimoult, and Madeleine Carbonnet, daughter of Nicolas Carbonnet and Anne Robin, married 1664/08/11, in Notre-Dame de Québec. The ceremony was conducted by priest and pastor H. de Bernières in the presence of witnesses Mr. Jean Bourdon, Attorney General; Louys Théandre Chartier and René Louys Chartier, his son; Adrien Sédillot, brother; and Jean Chesnier, in-law.[2]

He died on 1688/11/09, and was buried on 1688/11/10 in Quebec City[3]

Recensement 1667: Côte Sainte-Geneviève, Saint-François & Saint-Michel in 1667 --- "Etienne Sédillot, 28; Magdelaine Garbonnet, 24; Marie-Magdelaine, 2; 10 arpents en valeur (8.45 acres under cultivation)." [4]

1681 census –côte St-Michel
Estienne Sédillot, 44; Madeleine Carbonnet, 42; Françoise, 14;, Madelaine 6; ---?, 8yrs; Louis Etienne, 4; 1 rifle, 3 horned cattle and 15 arpents under cultivation in St-Michel.[5]
