Biography
John a twin to Agnes, was born on the 14th February 1856 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland, son of James Muir Pollock (~1829 - 1899) and Isabella (Meiklejohn) Pollock (1827 - 1900).[1]
1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 John was living at North Side Cowane Street, Stirling, Stirlingshire with his parents James and Isabella, and his siblings Agnes and Margaret.[2]
1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 John an apprentice, was living at 44 St Mary Wynd, Stirling, Stirlingshire with his parents James and Isabella, and his siblings Agnes, Hugh, James and Isabella.[3]
1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 John a warehouseman, was living at 104 - 107 Fore Street, Cripplegate, London.[4]
John married Annie Lee (1855 - ) and the marriage was registered in the 2nd quarter 1884 in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.[5]
1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 John a silk warehouseman, was living at 22 College Road, Bromley, Kent with his wife Annie, and their children Winifred and Ethel.[6]
1911 Census on the 2nd April 1911 John a silk and velvet buyer, was living at 87 Widmore Road, Bromley, Kent with his wife Annie, and their children Winifred and Ethel shown as Margaret.[7]
On the 21st September 1916 John of 104 Fore Street, the director of the Fore Street Warehouse Co. Ltd., was granted the Freedom of the City of London by redemption.[8]
