Biography

Thomas Newton was born in Yorkshire, England.

Thomas was born in 1869. His parents were John Newton and Margaret Peacock.^[1][2] He was christened on 7 July 1869 at Fylingdales, Yorkshire, England. ^[3]

In 1871, he is recorded at Robin Hoods Bay with his mother Margaret Peacock.^[4]

In 1881, he is recorded at Robin Hoods Bay with his mother Margaret Peacock and three siblings.^[5]

On 5 April 1891, the night of the English Census, Thomas, a draper aged 21, is recorded ^[6] at High Cliff, Fylingdales with his parents, John (43) and Margaret (43), and siblings: Ann (18); William (11); Frank (9); Margaret (8); and Albert (4) .

In 1896, Thomas Newton, son of John Newton and Margaret Peacock, married Jane Cooper in Yorkshire. Their marriage was registered at Whitby in the March quarter.^[7] They had at least four children.

On 31 Mar 1901, the night of the English census, Thomas Newton is recorded^[8] as a 31 year old Hatter's Assistant in Ruswarp, North Yorkshire. Also recorded are his wife Jane (32), three children Thomas (4), Jennie (2), and John (1) and a domestic servant.

In 1911, Thomas' wife Jane Newton(43) was recorded^[9] at Fylingdales with their four children, , her brother Matthew Cooper (43), and father Matthew Cooper (70). No census record for Thomas Newton has been located.

He passed away in 1955. ^[10]
