Biography

Ann was born in Yorkshire in 1872, the daughter of John Newton and Margaret Peacock. She was Christened at Fylingdales, Yorkshire on 25 December 1872.^[1] Her birth was registered at Whitby in the March quarter 1873. ^{[2] [3]}

In 1881, Ann is recorded at Robin Hoods Bay with his mother Margaret Peacock and three siblings.^[4]

On 5 April 1891, the night of the English Census, Ann (18) is recorded ^[5] at High Cliff, Fylingdales with her parents, John (43) and Margaret (43), and siblings: Thomas (21); William (11); Frank (9); Margaret (8); and Albert (4) .

Ann Gray Newton, daughter of John Newton and Margaret Peacock, married Arthur Smith Hunter^[6] in 1899. Their marriage was registered at Whitby in the March quarter.^[6] They had at least three children: James Arthur Hunter; Margaret Hunter; and John Newton Hunter.

On 31 Mar 1901, the night of the Welsh Census, Ann G Hunter (28) is recorded at Angus Street Roath (near Cardiff), with her parents, John (53, Master Mariner) and Margaret (53), and a visitor Sarah Evans. Ann's husband, Arthur, hasn't been located in the Census. Ann did not record an occupation and is recorded as the wife of the Head of Household.^[7]

In 1911, Ann (37) is recorded at Ecclesall, Yorkshire^[8] with her husband Arthur (Inspector, 43) and their three children.
