Biography

Reuben Denton Nevius was born on November 26, 1827, in Ovid, New York, his father, Benjamin Hegeman Nevius and his mother, Mary Denton. He married Margaret Mercer Tuomey on July 11, 1868. He died on December 15, 1913, in Eagle Gorge, Washington and Reuben was cremated and his ashes were buried with his mother, Mary Denton in Ovid Union Cemetery, Ovid, Seneca County, New York.

Occupation

Reuben was also a neutralist, name the Plant "Neviusia Alabamensis" in 1859. Retired in 1905, Tacoma, Pierce, Washington, USA, but still served as officiating priest of St. Peter's Church Tacoma, Pierce, Washington; he also remained an active naturalist.
