Biography

Kathleen "Kitty" McKane Godfree (née McKane; 7 May 1896 – 19 June 1992) was a Champion British tennis and badminton player and British Olympian.

Kathleen was born in 1896. She was the daughter of John McKane and May Rawson.

On 19 January 1926 she married Leslie Arthur Godfree, a Davis Cup tennis player and member of the LTA Council. They were married in a secret ceremony while touring South Africa with the English Lawn Tennis team. Later that year they became the first, and so far only married couple to win Wimbledon as a doubles pair.

She passed away in 1992.
