Samuel Hood, son of Samuel Hood and his wife, Anne Bere, was baptised at Netherbury in Dorset on the 25th of May 1763. [1]
At Barbados on the 6th of November 1804 he married Mary Frederica Elizabeth MacKenzie, [2] daughter of Francis Mackenzie, Lord Seaforth, Governor of Barbados, and his wife, Mary Proby. The marriage was childless. [3]
He was created baronet Hood of Tidlake [4] on the 13th of April 1809 with remainder to his nephew Alexander Hood of Wootton House at Butleigh in Somerset, and the heirs male of his body. [3]
Samuel died at Madras on the 24th of December 1814, carried off by a fever, after three days' illness. [3] By the special remainder he was succeeded in the Baronetcy by his nephew, Alexander. [4]
